I am a Professor of Surgery and the Program in Trauma, University of Maryland School of Medicine. I am the Director of the Center for Critical Care and Trauma Education and the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care and Surgical Intermediate Care Units of the University of Maryland Medical Center. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and medical school, general surgery residency, and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. My research has focused on the management of traumatic cardiac arrest and therapeutic hypothermia. I have also been involved in research on surgeon performance of critical trauma procedures.
