Bio

Michael Sirimaturos is a Pharmacist Clinical Specialist Leader in the Medical ICU at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.  He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Mississippi and completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at the Houston Methodist Hospital.

Michael is involved in teaching, research, and protocol development activities at Houston Methodist.  He is the Director for the PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program which received the TSHP Residency Program Excellence Award in April 2019. He has been a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) since 2010 and was appointed IRB Vice-Chair in 2018.  Michael was a co-founder of the Pharmacy Research Committee in 2014 in which he currently serves as Education Chair.  His research and professional interests include blood glucose control, electrolyte management, toxicology, nutrition, and COVID-19.  Michael is board certified in nutrition and critical care pharmacy. 

Michael has been an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and the SCCM Texas Chapter since 2006.  He was elected to the SCCM Texas Chapter Board of Directors in 2010 and subsequently was elected to the Executive Board of Directors in which he served in the roles of Treasurer, Secretary, President-Elect, President, and Past President of the Texas Chapter from 2013 – 2017.  Michael is an active Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) and currently serves on several national SCCM committees including the Membership Committee (Chair-Elect), Chapters Alliance Executive Committee (Member-At-Large), and the Insulin Infusion Guidelines Committee (Co-Vice Chair).
