Since SCCM launched the new Telecritical Care Section at Critical Care Congress this year, I wanted to introduce myself - I am Sonia Everhart and am the current section chair. Here is a bit more about me.
Sonia Everhart, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, FCCM received her BS in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. She began her career in critical care in 2003 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, NC. In 2015, along with her colleague Desiree Kosmisky, PharmD, BCCCP, FCCM, she established the tele-critical care pharmacy program at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. With Desiree, she utilized an emergency prescribing protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic that has laid the groundwork for application as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner in NC. She would like to see provider status for all pharmacists, especially critical care pharmacists. She is also interested in advancing the pharmacy profession utilizing telepharmacy to expand clinical pharmacy services. She is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine's Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology section, Carolinas/Virginias Chapter and current Chair of the Tele-Critical Care Section. In addition, she is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
If you currently practice in the tele-critical care space, please consider joining this NEW section and get involved. We have opportunities for Congress session proposals and other educational programs, articles for Critical Connections and other publications, research, member engagement just to name a few. Several of our members will begin introducing themselves here over the next few days. Please reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to working with all of you to grow this section.
