The use of bedside ultrasound by clinicians in the critical care setting is now considered a standard skill set and training is required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education for many residencies and fellowships. The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) has long recognized the significance of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in critical care and the need for standardized training.
The Society of Critical Care Medicine’s (SCCM) Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Knowledge Education Group (KEG) offers SCCM members the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn about POCUS. The KEG’s goals are to be a forum for like-minded SCCM members to efficiently and easily communicate and collaborate on POCUS topics, including Critical Care Congress proposal development; interpretation and sharing of ultrasound images; strategies for training, education, and program development; billing and documentation challenges; and potential research opportunities. We hope the KEG will increase participation in SCCM’s POCUS educational activities.
