    Welcome to the ARDS Innovation KEG! We are honored to serve as your cochairs and thrilled to have you join us in this important endeavor to enhance the management of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and promote lung-protective strategies. With our combined expertise and your active participation, we aim to create a vibrant community dedicated to improving patient outcomes through innovative research and collaborative efforts.

    Dear Members,
    I am honored to introduce myself, Javier Amador-Castaneda, BHS, RRT, FCCM, as one of the co-chairs of the newly established ARDS Innovation Knowledge Education Group (KEG). Alongside my esteemed colleague, Dr. Bushra A. Mina, MD, FACP, FCCP, FCCM, we aim to advance the knowledge and implementation of effective strategies for managing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and promoting lung protection.
    About Javier Amador-Castaneda
    I am a respiratory care practitioner at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in NYC, and the CEO and founder of the Interprofessional Critical Care Network (ICCN). My career has been dedicated to elevating the standards of respiratory care and critical care practices. With a strong background as a Respiratory Care Practitioner at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, to name a few. I bring extensive hands-on experience in managing complex respiratory conditions. I am honor to have co-author a book chapter on "Respiratory Support in ARDS: From HFNC to Considerations for Transplant" in the newly Current Concepts in Adult Critical Care book by SCCM. I was privileged to have co-author this book Chapter with Dr. Bushra Mina, our co-chair for this KEG.
    My Journey and Contributions
    My journey in critical care extends beyond clinical practice. As an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), I have been privileged to serve on multiple committees, including:
    • ICU Liberation Committee
    • Program Committee
    • FCCS Adult Concepts Committee
    • Future of Critical Care Taskforce
    • Patient Management During Disasters Program Taskforce
    • Adult Concepts Committee
    Goals for the ARDS Innovation KEG
    Our mission at the ARDS Innovation KEG is to support healthcare professionals by providing a platform for sharing research, discussing best practices, and developing innovative approaches to improve patient care.
    Together, with the critical care community, we aim to create a dynamic and engaging environment that fosters active participation and knowledge sharing. I am excited to collaborate with you all as we work towards improving outcomes for patients with ARDS. Please stay tune in the upcoming weeks for our first meeting.

    Hi all,

    I'm thrilled to be part of this group. My name is Ivan Garcia, I'm a full-time research respiratory therapist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. In this capacity, I have participated and helped led large-scale, multi-center RCT. The overarching goal of our group is to to individualize lung protective strategies to mitigate ventilator-induced lung injury. Looking forward to sharing ideas!
