    Dear SCCM Socal Chapter Members:

I hope that you are having a wonderful (and deservedly restful) summer. I am writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity. Our education committee is looking forward to hosting a hybrid Fundamental Critical Care Support Course on July 30th, 2021 from 9am-3 pm at University of Southern California, Los Angekes. The didactic (lecture and pre-test) portion of the course will be performed online independently by participants via SCCM. During the in-person portion, we will focus on rotating through 4 separate skills stations that provide participants with the training/basics to manage critically ill patients for the first 24hrs of hospital admission (until critical care consultation can be arranged)- 2 cohorts 9-12 pm and 12-3 pm. Registration is free for SoCal Chapter members and space is limited.

We are also looking for members who would be interested in volunteering their time (for either a full or half day) to help run a skills station. You would have a partner running the skills station with you, two SCCM approved faculty overseeing all the stations to address questions/concerns, and access to a very comprehensive instructor guide provided by SCCM. We would work to place you at a skills station that best matches your particular expertise/interests. This is a great opportunity to meet other critical care professionals throughout the state, become more involved with SCCM, and can serve as category II CME. It is our hope to make this a yearly event where we can provide this valuable opportunity to learn the basics of critical care medicine to hospitalists, residents, and new ICU APPs/nurses, and other critical care team members statewide.
