Dear SCCM Florida Chapter Members,
The Chapters' Executive Council has been monitoring statewide COVID-19 epidemiologic data, regional institutional/hospital policies regarding conference attendance and travel permissions, registration rates for the Symposium, and cancellations from expected plenary presenters. Given the value of our membership to the healthcare workforce and the heightened risk they confront in general as frontline providers on a day-to-day basis, we have determined that cancellation of our 3rd Annual Symposium is necessary. A virtual version of the symposium that both met the needs for community engagement and achieved high-resolution streaming and breakout sessions could not be anticipated from the venue with our current timeline.
For those who planned to attend, submitted an abstract, or were expected as vendors / sponsors, we appreciate your support and apologize for this inconvenience. We intend on transitioning both abstract presenters and plenary speakers to partake in our monthly alternating Education and Scholarship in Progress webinars formats. Refunding fees and support for vendors will be organized in an expedited fashion. We want to thank the Symposium Planning Committee for their diligent efforts on putting forth the meeting and look forward to a 2022 Symposium Agenda / Plan. Please contact us through SCCM Connect or via our email (FLchaptersccm@gmail.com) with any questions, comments, or concerns. We look forward to the early spring to support and create local networking opportunities and additional networking opportunities through larger SCCM Annual Congress in 2022.
